Google Desktop supports a group policy flag in the registry to prevent installation.

If the administrator sets the following keys in the registry, the user will see the following message: "Your Administrative Policy does not allow this version of Google Desktop Search."

"HKCU\Software\Policies\Google\Google Desktop\"
